'The Incredibles 2' – news, rumours, Jack-Jack is the bad boy?

"The Incredibles", released in 2004, went on to become a blockbuster and it grossed over $630 million worldwide. It even won the Best Animated Feature prize at the 2005 Oscars. And yet, a decade has passed and it is a mystery why Pixar has never fully dived in to make the movie's sequel.

In the meantime, Brad Bird, who directed "The Incredibles", went on to direct films like "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" and "Tomorrowland." Now we hear rumours that "The Incredibles 2" might be on and it might be released before "Frozen 2".

The rumours started at the recent D23 Expo in Anaheim, California. John Lasseter, head of Pixar Animation, hinted that "The Incredibles 2" was in the works. .

Fuelling this even more was when Disney posted a logo of "The Incredibles 2" on its Twitter page, tagged it with the words "Two Soon", and added the hashtag of #D23EXPO. This would mean that the summer D23 EXPO might be the platform that would be used to officially announce "The Incredibles 2".

In an interview with NPR, when asked if an "Incredibles" sequel was in the making, Brad Bird said, "It's percolating. Yeah, yeah. I mean, I'm just starting to write it, so we'll see what happens."

It has been reported that "The Incredibles 2" will start production in 2015. Brad Bird has said that it would be a challenge to make "The Incredibles 2" stand apart among the superhero films being made today. He wants the sequel to be of significance and not make the sequel just because it is the thing to do. Hence the story of "The Incredibles 2" assumes great importance.

How will the story of the "Incredibles 2" move forward?

According to the Master Herald, 12 years have passed, the children have grown up, so maybe the Incredible children will be the main focus of the film. Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl are retired from the life of crime fighting so Dash and Violet now do all the crime fighting.

Some fans say that Jack-Jack, in the sequel, will be kidnapped by a villain who teaches him the wrong ways and so Jack-Jack rebels and goes against his family and society and his family must now rally to correct Jack-Jack and help him redeem himself. Whether that scenario really occurs in the movie remains to be seen though as it just a possibility.

Neither Pixar nor Disney has talked of any release date. But going by the release of the logo on the Disney Twitter page and pointing to upcoming summer D23 Expos, we will wait till then for further announcements.
