'The Incredibles 2' Release Date, Plot News: Script Almost Complete

The script for the upcoming sequel to "The Incredibles" is reportedly nearing its completion.

It was previously announced by the CEO of Disney, Bob Iger, that Pixar has already begun working on "The Incredibles 2." During that time, it was revealed that the writer and director of the movie, Brad Bird, was still in the process of writing the script. He was working on the recently released film "Tomorrowland."

During an interview with Collider, Bird recently shared that they were able to make progress with the script. He said, "I have the story arc. I'm probably three-quarters through the script, first pass through the script, but we're already boarding parts of it."

However, there was not much shared about what fans can expect from the plot of the film. With that, there have been many speculations regarding how the story might go. A theory suggested that Jack-Jack, who was seen as just a baby in the previous installment, could be portrayed as a villain in "The Incredibles 2."

Nevertheless, fans are expecting that the film will feature a time jump that will portray many of their favorite characters all grown-up. It was speculated that Helen and Bob will be retiring as superheroes, which will leave Dash and Violet to continue onto their crime-fighting footsteps.

Aside from the Incredible family members, there are hints that two other characters will be returning to the series. It was said that Samuel L. Jackson will be reprising his role as Frozone. In addition, Jason Lee will also be making another appearance in the film.

Bird had explained why it took a while for them to produce a sequel for the movie. He said, "Pixar does not look at sequels as a financial plan. We feel we have a relationship with the audience and that they believe in each movie we put out. We believe completely in every movie we put out. If I can come up with a story that is as good or better than that first film, then I'd love to return to that world, but it would to be story first."

"The Incredibles 2" is expected to release around 2017.
