'The Jungle Book' News: How Scary Is 'The Jungle Book'? Actor, Director Say 'Really Intense' Scenes Are In The Trailer
"The Jungle Book," the live-action/CGI remake of the 1967 animated film of the same title, has hit theaters and is currently earning much praise from moviegoers and critics alike.
While the film is based on the heartwarming Disney animated classic, the trailer for the reboot featured some menacing characters and adrenaline-pumping sequences that made the film look somewhat dark and grim. So should parents bring their children to see it? And just how scary is "The Jungle Book"?
In an interview with The Independent, Neel Sethi, the film's star, said that if if a viewer can watch the trailer and not get scared, then he can watch the movie.

"The really intense scenes are in the trailer, that's it," the young actor said.
Director Jon Favreau echoed Sethi's statement in a recent chat with Slash Film. "I say as a parent, you know your kid," the director said. "If the kid sees the trailer and doesn't like the trailer, then the movie is pretty… it's indicative of what's going to be in the film. If they like the trailer, and you think they can handle that, it's the right thing for them."
Sethi also spoke about his experience filming "The Jungle Book," telling The Independent that he had trouble filming a scene involving a lot of mud and that no part of the movie was filmed in an actual jungle.
"It was all blue screen so there was no need for a jungle," he said. "Sometimes there was set there; anything I was touching or reacting with was actually there. They had dirt, and soil, and grass, and trees."
According to Slash FIlm, "The Jungle Book" is 98% CGI and was shot in a soundstage in Los Angeles. The film was made over two years, a major undertaking for Favreau and his team. Apart from Sethi, the film's cast list includes numerous big-name Hollywood actors who lent their voices to the movie's iconic characters. Bill Murray is Baloo, Idris Elba is Shere Khan, Sir Ben Kingsley is Bagheera, Lupita Nyong'o is Raksha, Scarlett Johansson is Kaa, Christopher Walken is King Louie, and Giancarlo Esposito is Akela.
"The Jungle Book" is now in theaters.
