'The Last of Us 2' Rumors: Upcoming Game to Have New Lead?

Very few details have been released about the sequel to "The Last of Us," but fans are rich in ideas and one of the latest rumors hot in forums and social media is the coming of a new lead character to give color to the next game in the hit franchise.

Since there has been a huge gap in terms of communication between the developer and the gaming community, fans started making their own theories about how the game will be depicted in the second installment.

Some fans have suggested since last year that the plot will pick up on the events that will lead to the survival of Joel and Ellie. The theory is reasonable since a lot of fans will definitely be frustrated if Naughty Dog will open a new storyline without putting a clear end to the first game.

One of the hottest theories that fans created is that a new lead will be featured in "TLOU 2" since some players believe it's time to replace Joel and open doors for Ellie to start anew with a new partner.

Rumor has it that Joel won't survive, leaving Ellie to continue the journey toward living. Others suggest that another female lead will take the place of Joel, but others believe it would be more justifiable if the developer decides to star another male counterpart in the sequel.

Meanwhile, it is expected that the game will come with huge upgrades that players will find helpful and enjoyable. New upgrades also mean new challenges, meaning gamers can expect some moments in the gameplay wherein it would be hard to get out of the situation.

It is also speculated that the developer will give more authority to the player with the second installment. The game received some criticism after players commented on the narratives that didn't allow for a lot of control in the player's part.

There is no release date announced for "The Last of Us 2."
