The Last of Us Remastered PS4: PS3 Owners May Get Discount for Upgrading to Next-Gen Version

With the recent announcement of The Last of Us coming to the PS4, PS3 owners of the game were left wondering if they could get an upgrade for free. The newest rumor does not indicate a free upgrade, but perhaps a discount for those looking to cash in on the next-gen graphics.

The Last of Us: Remastered is currently listed for $59.99 on pre-order through Amazon. Polygon reported, the European PlayStation Blog responded to a question about a discount for gamers who already own it.

"We're looking into the business model for all this," said Naughty Dog community strategist Eric Monacelli, "and will post about this once we have input from all regions."

He also revealed the final Season Pass yesterday, "Grounded." It will introduce a new difficulty mode, four new maps, and weapons among other features.

According to GameSpot, the Grounded Bundle for the PS3 will be the last DLC in the $20 season pass, and will include new features to both the single player and multiple player. It can be purchased on its own for $5.

The new difficulty is called Grounded Mode, and game developer Naughty Dog is boosting it will be the "hardest challenge" in the game.

"The AI is relentless, smart, and brutal, and survival will be near impossible," Naughty Dog said in a statement to GameSpot. Players will even get a special Trophy for the challenge, "Completed Grounded Mode."

Also included in the bundle is new guns: Specter, Double Barrel, Enforcer, and Launcher – as well as additional survivor skills. Additionally, the expansion has the Reclaimed Territories Map Pack, which has Wharf, Capitol, Coal Mine, and Water Tower levels.
