'The Legend of Zelda Encyclopedia' Release Date: Dark Horse Announces April 2018 Arrival

"The Legend of Zelda" fans have got a new item to look forward to in the coming year--and it is not a game.

Dark Horse has announced a third book consisting of everything related to "The Legend of Zelda." Titled "The Legend of Zelda Encyclopedia," the whopping 320-page book is being described as an "exhaustive guide" to the franchise. The encyclopedia will cover content from the original "The Legend of Zelda" to "Twilight Princess HD."

This is not the first time Dark Horse has published a book in cooperation with Nintendo's "The Legend of Zelda." Two other books titled "Hyrule Historia" and "Art & Artifacts" were previously released. "Hyrule Historia," a New York Times bestseller, was a comprehensive look at the history behind the franchise, while "Art & Artifacts" focused more on arts and culture.

"The Legend of Zelda Encyclopedia" will consist of detailed descriptions of potions, items, enemies and more. And while "Hyrule Historia" already brushed through some of these topics, the encyclopedia will be much more in-depth. There will even be explanations of character relationships, maps and languages. Furthermore, it will also include an interview with series producer Eiji Aonuma.

"Hyrule Historia" was released back in 2013 and was received very well by critics. "Art & Artifacts," on the other hand, was released in February earlier this year. The encyclopedia will be the final installment in the Goddess Collection trilogy.

Fans who would like to purchase "The Legend of Zelda Encyclopedia" can pre-order at various retailers, including Amazon and Barnes & Noble. It is available for $39.99, which may be a steep price to some but a bargain to others.

Dark Horse will be present at the upcoming New York Comic Con, where they will be giving away "The Legend of Zelda" pins, among other things.

"The Legend of Zelda Encyclopedia" will be released on April 24, 2018.
