Christian Post reported last month that Ma joined the cast of "The Man in the High Castle" based on the social media posts of stars Joel de la Fuente and Lee Shorten, who play Chief Inspector Kido and Sergeant Yoshida. At that time, the details of Ma's character were still unknown.

According to a new report of Deadline, Ma will play General Onoda, a clever, nuanced and seasoned soldier from a working-class background. The personal storyline of the general in the sophomore season is closely intertwined to Trade Minister Nobusuke Tagomi (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa)

The new season's General Onoda is a big personality who has a temper and a large appetite for life. He enjoys his life with women, drink and food.

The character has a history with Trade Minister Tagomi whose true loyalties are ambiguous throughout the series' pilot season. The general will depend on Tagomi's support and on his connections with the trade minister.

Ma is a 54-year-old Hong Kong-born American actor who is known for his role in "Rush Hour" and "Rush Hour 3" as Consul Han. His previous American television projects include "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D," "Once Upon A Time," "Grey's Anatomy" and "Yellowthread Street."

More New Characters

Aside from Ma, Amazon announced earlier that the sophomore season will introduce Bella Heathcote as Nicole Becker. Per EW, the new character is a young filmmaker from Berlin who will eventually become the love interest of Joe Blake (Luke Kleintank).

American actor Tate Donovan will also appear in the new season as George Dixon, according to a report of Deadline in July. George is a mysterious character who has a connection to Juliana Crain's (Alexa Davalos) past.

Moreover, an unnamed actor is also set to portray Hawthorne Abendsen in the upcoming season. Hawthorne is "the man in the high castle" who is behind the mysterious film reel that turned Frank Frink (Rupert Evans) more radicalized.

Executive producer David Zucker told USA Today in August that the new season will feature an incredibly expansive and unpredictable storyline. It will see Juliana seeking asylum with the Nazis, Luke going to Berlin and John Smith (Rufus Sewell) trying to protect his dying son.

Season 2 of "The Man in the High Castle" will premiere on Amazon Video on Dec. 16, 2016.
