He revealed that it was actually he who penned the ending.

"I pretty much wrote the ending anyway. I didn't write the script, but I definitely wrote the last scene. That's not uncommon; just do it," Baker said. "I just called Bruno [Heller, creator and executive producer] and said, 'I think this should end it, and what do you think?' And he said, 'I love the idea.' And he wrote a draft and I fiddled with that draft."

"I really enjoyed [being a part of the series] and I want to leave loving the experience and I want the show to finish with people loving the experience," he went on to say.

As for the segment's details, TVLine meanwhile indicated that before Jane and Lisbon (Robin Tunney) will be heading down the aisle, the duo must first "outwit the psychic-obsessed serial killer dubbed Lazarus."

As what the showrunner dished out to the publication, Lazarus will not be a familiar face.

"It's not someone you've met before," the EP said. "And as Robin pointed out to me, I don't think we've done any other serial killers over the years as strongly as this one, except for Red John, so it's very much a 'full circle' kind of event."

Catch the back-to-back original finale episodes of "The Mentalist" Season 7 this Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 8 p.m. on CBS.
