There was a sudden gush of optimism as to the possibility of the "The Night Manager" booking itself for another season.

The AMC/BBC show is a drama and suspense miniseries from the U.K., based on the eponymous novel from British novelist John le Carré, who is famous for his spy novels.

The lead stars of the show include Tom Hiddleston (known for his role as Loki in Marvel's "Thor" films), Olivia Colman, Hugh Laurie, Tom Hollander, Elizabeth Debicki and David Harewood. The show was directed by Susanne Bier, while David Farr wrote the screenplay.

It tells the story of Jonathan Pine (Hiddleston), a hotel manager and former soldier, who has been commissioned to become a spy in order to pin down Richard Roper (Laurie). Roper is involved in international arms trade.

Showrunner Says They Would Love to Make a Sequel

Speaking at a Royal Television Society event, the show's producer said that AMC and BBC would love to come up with a follow-up to the hit miniseries. Simon Cornwell added that the idea would really bring excitement to them.

The main obstacle he foresees is the fact that there's no other Le Carré novel or story that could serve as the sequel. Although, he expressed his willingness to push through with it, nevertheless. All he really cares about is how to make the next series better than the first.

As for Hiddleston, he thinks that it is still all up to the author, Le Carré.

Tom Hiddleston as James Bond

There has been a growing clamor among many Tom Hiddleston fans to let "The Night Manager" star take up the reins of Daniel Craig as James Bond.

It was fueled by the fact that the 35-year-old English actor has been lauded for his performance in the AMC series, playing the role of another spy. Hiddleston supporters believe that he fits the bill.

There hasn't been any official confirmation yet, and it stands, at least for now, that Daniel Craig is still Bond. The actor insists that he loves his job despite his earlier pronouncement that suggests otherwise.

Meanwhile, another person connected to "The Night Manager" is being linked to the "007" movie.

Director Susanne Bier, known for "In a Better World", was also rumored to take over the same duty for the next James Bond film. But, the Danish filmmaker was quick to downplay the rumors.

"James Bond is such a mythical thing and there's always been rumors," said Bier, according to a report from the Digital Spy. "As long as I can remember, there's been rumors about James Bond and about the Bond girls and about all sorts of things."
