'The Originals' Season 4: EP Teases 'Big Bad,' Mikaelson Clan's 'Common Goal'

While Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) appears to be the bad guy moving forward in "The Originals" season 4, it turns out he is not the evil force that the Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and company will be dealing with largely this season.

In an interview with TV Guide, executive producer Michael Narducci teased "a very powerful ghost story" that serves as the overarching umbrella of "The Originals" season 4.

"It's a haunting that takes place, but instead of a house this is a haunting of a city," Narducci said of the main adversary in "The Originals" season 4.

"Certain things, which took place last season and we will re-examine, have lead to this haunting in the current time that we will be dramatizing on our show this season. There is going to be that Big Bad that you spoke of, for sure," he went on to say.

Narducci also pointed out that "The Originals" season 4 will also tie loose ends left in the previous season, which put the Mikaelsons in front of their biggest predicament yet.

"It truly is a family dynamic," adding that it will show how Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic), Rebekah (Claire Holt), (Daniel Gillies), Freya (Riley Voelkel) will work together with Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) connecting to the family as Hope's (Summer Montana).

For the first time in a long time, the family will have one common goal come "The Originals" season 4 and that is to save Klaus, whose sacrifice allowed them to still live.

When they get out of the dreamscape where they stayed to hide from Marcel until Hayley finds a way to help them, they will have be bent on doing only one thing — rescue Klaus.

"Down the line, if that common purpose is carried out — and we can imagine if Klaus is rescued — what then necessitates the family to stay together? That's going to force Kol, Rebekah and Elijah to ask certain questions about what the family now means to them after all this time," Narducci said.

"The Originals" season 4 airs Fridays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
