'The Royals' season 2 plot news: More trouble for King Cyrus

With the premiere of "The Royals" season 2 fast approaching, details about the characters have been revealed.

The season left off with Cyrus, played by Jake Maskall, seeking the throne now that his king brother, played by Vincent Regan, had died. It was also learned that Liam, played by William Moseley, and Eleanor's, played by Alexandra Park, had an illegitimate heir to the throne. However, more trouble is expected to come upon the new King Cyrus.

Creator and executive producer of the show, Mark Schwahn, recently shared details about what each character will go through for the season during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. According to Schwahn, King Cyrus will have to deal with some consequences of his past action. It was reported that the season will start off addressing King Cyrus' affair with the palace maid, Prudence, with whom he fathered a child. He explained that the season will see the return of Prudence, which will most likely shaken King Cyrus' hold on the throne. He said, "That's a story line we're going to get into right off the bat. We'll find out what that is, and who that is, and whether or not Cyrus will be held accountable — whether, in fact, that is his child."

With that, Queen Helena, played by Elizabeth Hurley, will also cause trouble for King Cyrus, as expressed by Schwahn. Schwahn stated, "She conspired with Cyrus to make these stars align, obviously with the paternity scandal. She is someone who's wrestling with the idea of, Is it and was it all worth it? And the answer might be yes. She may say, 'Yes, I'm in this far. Why would I turn back now [that] I'm so close to everything I've been chasing?' With this order to change the order of succession, she's one step away from the throne if something were to befall Cyrus. They've been thick as thieves but they're still thieves those two."

The Royals is expected to present its second season this Nov. 15.
