'The Sing-Off': Rachael Lampa Returns Healthy after Acute Laryngitis

Rachael Lampa was in need of medical attention during the Oct. 10 episode of NBC's "The Sing-Off." She had a bad case of acute laryngitis, and was unsure if she'd be able to perform with her group, The Collective. However, despite worries about her performance, Lampa will be back for another round of singing.

“Monday night was quite a rush to watch,” Lampa said, of the pre-taped performance from September.

The singer added, “I wasn't sure how it was going to sound. It was all such a blur at the time so it was a pleasant surprise to see that it came across well and the judges were happy with the performance!”

Lampa released her first new studio album in more than five years on Sept. 27 called “All We Need.”

She is competing on the show with her group The Collective.

Season two runner up Jeremy Lister, who was part of Street Corner Symphony, created the group of Nashville vocalists for the series.

The show, hosted by Nick Lachey, features a panel of judges including Ben Folds, Sara Bareilles, and Boyz II Men's Shawn Stockman – who judged group a cappella performances.

“Being on The Sing-Off has been such a fun part of this whole process of getting back into the music world,” says Lampa, who is currently on the road with Group 1 Crew, Shonlock and Rapture Ruckus for this fall’s Outta Space Love Tour, in a press release.

“I love my group, The Collective, and it's cool to have had such a different and new experience with such beautiful and talented people,” she added.

Last night's taping of the show showed a much better Lampa as she performed in perfect health.

Lampa is perhaps best known for blasting her way onto the Christian pop music scene in early 2000 at the age of 15 with her debut single "Live for You" off the album of the same title.

After a series of releases, including a compilation and Christmas album, Lampa's “All We Need” will be her first complete studio album since 2004's self-titled “Rachael Lampa.”
