'The Sinner' Season 1 Spoilers: Cora Remembers What Happened

The upcoming episode of "The Sinner" season 1 will reveal more answers.

The synopsis of the new episode, simply titled "Part VII," states that Cora (Jessica Biel) will recall the events of the night she cannot seem to remember. Her return to the past will shed some light on what really happened and will offer more answers.

A teaser trailer for the penultimate episode has also been released. It opened with Cora wandering around the club where she seemed to remember a birthday. Her past then comes to light and later on showed her with J.D. (Jacob Pitts) in the woods with a gun. He fired the gun at the sky as Cora demanded to know what he was up to. The clip ended with Cora being confronted by a man who had his face covered, who said he wanted to show her something before removing the mask.

Meanwhile, here is a brief recap of the previous episode, titled "Part VI."

The episode revealed Maddie's (Danielle Burgess) envy of her sister's life. It was clear that she wanted to know more about Cora's relationship with J.D., but it was not because she really cared.

Detective Ambrose (Bill Pullman), on the other hand, was stuck at a dead end. He took Cora to the Beverwyck Club, hoping to jog her memory. Towards the end of the episode, she finally started to recall that night's happenings.

"The Sinner" is a limited series based on Petra Hammesfahr's book of the same name. The show tells the story of a young mother named Cora who publicly kills a man named Frankie Belmont seemingly for no reason. And while she is arrested for the crime, Detective Ambrose is more interested in why she committed the act in the first place.

The series received positive reviews and currently holds a 94 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with the site's critical consensus praising "The Sinner" for its "smartly unpredictable" plot and "powerful" cast.

"The Sinner" season 1 airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. EDT on USA Network.
