'The Vampire Diaries' Season 5 Spoilers: Is Elena the 'Gone Girl?'
"The Vampire Diaries" season five returns to the CW tonight with its latest installment entitled "Gone Girl," but spoilers answer fans' questions ahead of time on Thursday.
According to a synopsis leaked online on March 5, there will be an "all-out war" during the intense episode of "The Vampire Diaries" this week, according to IBTimes. The Mystic Falls gang struggles to get Elena (portrayed by Nina Dobrev) back all while keeping Katherine in the dark that they are on to her shape-shifting ways. However, the title of tonight's episode has fans wondering if Elena is the "Gone Girl."
Furthermore, "Gone Girl" will pick up just after Tyler (Michael Trevino) poisoned Nadia (Olga Fonda) with werewolf venom after biting her during last week's episode. Spoilers about tonight's episode indicate that the venom will cause Nadia remember "her centuries-long search for her mother," including flashbacks revealing Nadia as a child during the 1400's.

Previously, fans were given a sneak peek at the flashback via Twitter, which revealed a photo of Katherine (Dobrev) with a young Nadia, portrayed by child actress Ashlyn Jade Lopez.
Meanwhile, executive producer Julie Plec also provided some spoilers for season five of "Vampire Diaries." According to the producer, Katherine is set to let loose and become more evil, as she is now inside Elena's body.
"She's going to be at her best of no good," Plec told E! News. "The thing that's so great is that she's so into Stefan right now and so not into Damon right now, and yet Elena was about ready to remember her relationship with Damon, and Damon was all ready to win back his girl, so you can only imagine how that's going to go down. Katherine does some of the b-------- stuff as Elena in the next part of the chapter. It's great. Katherine at her most diabolical."
Nevertheless, the synopsis for "Gone Girl" on TvGuide reads: "Nadia recalls her centuries-long search for her mother; Stefan, Caroline and Matt come up with a desperate plan to save Elena's life; Damon baits Tyler into an ugly confrontation and seeks revenge against Dr. Wes; Bonnie learns a terrifying secret that threatens the lives of all her friends."
