'The Vampire Diaries' Season 6 Spoilers: Bonnie, Damon Develop Relationship, Elena Out the Picture?

The cast of "The Vampire Diaries" has just finished shooting promotional photos for the upcoming season of the show, and if the photos are any indication of things to come, then it's highly possible that a Damon-Bonnie connection could be in the works.

It can be recalled that previous promotional shoots usually feature Elena (Nina Dobrev) with one or both of the Salvatore brothers, but season six's photo shoot is going on a different direction as Damon is seen posing with Bonnie this time.

It can be recalled that the final episode of season five sees Damon and Bonnie's demise, but producer Julie Plec said that they're not really dead. At Comic-Con in San Diego, the show runner also revealed that Elena's feelings for Damon are still very strong and real, however, who knows what Damon could be feeling now that he's on the Other Side?

The show runner also said that Damon and Bonnie will try to find their way home, but teased that they could form a deep bond that could eventually lead them on to becoming more than friends.

Meanwhile, there are speculations that Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig) may wind up being the villain for the upcoming season, while others speculate that Colin Ferguson's character Tripp, who is a militia leader for the town, could turn out to be the season's biggest antagonist. Plec has already hinted that Matt might turn his back on his supernatural friends, and if he becomes the "Big Bad" next season, then he'll know all the secrets as well as the best ways to get rid of them for good.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 returns on Oct. 2 on The CW.
