'The Walking Dead' Season 5 Spoilers: Recap for Episode 11 'The Distance'

Sunday's episode of "The Walking Dead" sees the group making it through a storm and grieving the loss of Beth and Tyreese. When an overly cheerful newcomer invites Rick and the rest of the group to a zombie-free sanctuary, some of them are suspicious of the newbie's intentions. Is this going to be another Woodbury or Terminus scenario?

"The Distance" starts with the group hiding out in a barn, and Aaron comes in and tells them that he wants to lead them to a safe place. He jokingly says that he wants the group to audition for a spot in his camp. He brings out an envelope full of pictures of the safe haven he wants to lead them to. But Rick is having none of it as he punches Aaron in the face.

Surprisingly, when he regained consciousness, Aaron is more cheerful than ever. Rick wants to forget that they met him because it might be too dangerous, but Michonne reminds him that passing up a safe place where baby Judith can live is dangerous.

Rick stays with Aaron while Michonne, Rosita, Abraham, Glenn and Maggie look for Aaron's cars and companion. They find Aaron's car and RV, and it's filled with food. When they get back, Rick wants to let Aaron go on his way, but Michonne tells Rick that they need this safe place that Aaron is promising to them.

Because Aaron refuses to tell them where the camp is and how to get there, they go at night through uncleared roads. Aaron tells them that he's been collecting license plates and wants to get one from each state. Upon looking at the photos he brought, Michonne is disturbed to find that there aren't any people in them, so she asks him the Three Questions.

Just then, Rick finds spying equipment in the glove box, the car hits a horde, the car stalls, and they lose track of the RV. A flare goes up, and it's from Aaron's companion. The group manages to escape the walkers in the woods, and Glenn almost gets bitten.

They get to the flare location and find the RV and Aaron's companion, Eric, who also happens to be Aaron's boyfriend. Eric reveals that they are going to Alexandria, and Rick finally eases up a bit.

The group pulls up to Alexandria's gates, and they can hear children playing inside. Michonne asks Rick if he's ready. Rick picks up baby Judith and smiles.

"The Walking Dead" airs on Sundays at 9/8c on AMC.
