'The Walking Dead' Season 5 Premieres Oct. 12, Will Daryl Die Mid-Season?

"The Walking Dead" is an America post-apocalyptic horror drama television series aired in the AMC channel. The series revolves around the lives of Rick Grime and his companions as they travel through zombie-infested lands in search of a safe haven. The series is based on a comic book series of the same title created by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard.

The series was renewed for a fifth season on Oct. 29 last year and will premiere on the AMC channel on Oct. 12.

In the fifth season, Rick and his people have come a long way and have already lost some of their members in the previous seasons. Filming of the season has been kept a tighly closed secret by the production team and crew so exact details are sparse.

However, AMC Studios recently released a group picture of the cast but Norman Reedus who plays as fan-favorite Daryl Dixon was not among them. This instantaneously sent wild speculations that Reedus' character will be killed off mid-season.

Included in the picture, however, were Rick Grimes, Carl Grimes, Michonne, Glenn Rhee, Maggie Greene, Sasha, Sgt. Abraham Ford, Tara Chambler, Ford, Bob, Stookey, Eugene Porter, and Rosita Espinosa.

Since Daryl is one of the most favorited characters in the series, killing him off might be a blow to the series viewership. Among the speculations accompanying the character for season five is that he will simply lose a limb, instead of completely being dead.

Andrew Lincoln, who plays as Rick Grimes, says that the first episode will be one of the most action packed episodes.

"I think that this first episode is the strongest, most complete episode that we've done. It's full of action, the biggest action sequence that we've ever attempted. But it's also got one of the most incredible narrative scripts, and one of the coolest after credits coda," Lincoln explained.
