"Ethan plays a combo of a few characters that we actually haven't hit yet or weren't able to hit in other characters," executive producer Scott Gimple told Entertainment Weekly. "He is an Alexandrian, and has been there the whole time, just quite busy."

The publication then cited the recently-released Season 6 trailer revealing Carter as a person who is hell-bent to make the Alexandrians hate Rick (Andrew Lincoln) for what he has done to the once orderly town.

The showrunner also points out to Corey Hawkins' Heath.

"He's terrific and I'm so excited to see him bring Heath to life," Gimple told EW. "It's been fun and he dove in with both feet. He's tough and skeptical when the cameras are rolling, and then when they're off he's just like a goofy fan. He's really, really excited to be there."

In the comics, the supply-runner becomes romantically involved with Dr. Cloyd.

Aside from the actors mentioned above, "The Walking Dead" Season 6 will see the return of Chandler Riggs as Carl, Danai Gurira as Michonne, Melissa McBride as Carol, Sonequa Martin-Green as Sasha, Lauren Cohan as Maggie, Steven Yeun as Glenn, Norman Reedus as Daryl, Lennie James as Morgan, Seth Gilliam as Father Gabriel, Michael Cudlitz as Abraham, Josh McDermitt as Eugene, Alanna Masterson as Tara, Christian Serratos as Rosita, Tovah Feldshuh as Deanna, Ross Marquand as Aaron, Alexandra Breckenridge as Jesse, and Austin Nichols as Spencer.

The new season premieres Oct. 11 with a 90-minute special episode on AMC.
