'The Walking Dead' Season 8 News, Release Date: Rick Gathers Group, Allies in New Promo

With "The Walking Dead" season 8 arriving in a couple of weeks, AMC has dropped a new teaser featuring Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes. The new promo shows the lead character gathering together the rest of the survivors, as he prepares them for the all-out-war they will be waging against Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Negan.

The new season will find Rick's group uniting with the other groups of survivors as they seek to fight Negan together. It can be recalled that the protagonists of the zombie apocalypse series were subjugated by Negan and the Saviors for most of season 7, but the season finale saw the Alexandrians and Ezekiel's (Khary Payton) troupe rallying together to gear up for an epic battle against their major adversary.

Earlier this week, the AMC network took to Instagram to unveil a new promo for the upcoming season, hinting that the road ahead won't be easy for Rick's group and their allies. The new promo shows Rick assuring his people that no matter what happens, the Alexandrians would win the battle. However, it looks like there are plenty of other factors that would make victory elusive for them.

In the promo, fans are offered a glimpse of an older Judith and Rick as the latter gathers together the rest of the survivors before the battle. There is also a scene showing Rick teaming up with Daryl (Norman Reedus) again, as well as a shot of a mysterious hospital corridor.

Fans have yet to see what this long hospital corridor signifies in the new season, but this might have something to do with the "tricks" that the producers of the show previously teased having up their sleeves for the survivors.

Previously, the producers of the show teased that more obstacles would come the survivors' way in the new season. Last week, one of its cast members also revealed that the new season would feature lots of explosions and violence that are reminiscent of an 80's action movie.

"The Walking Dead" season 8 premieres on Oct. 22 on AMC.
