The Walking Dead Season 8 Spoilers News: New Scenes Shown In New York Comic-Con

Attendants at "The Walking Dead" panel at New York Comic Con were pleasantly surprised after they were treated to a sneak preview of the series' upcoming eighth season.

Footage from the opening scene and 100th episode were shown at the panel. As if looking back to the show's humble beginnings, the footage shows Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) looking for gas with a gun drawn.

Longtime fans of the zombie-series fondly remember sheriff's deputy Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) doing the same back in episode one of the first season. The new scene was almost matched shot-for-shot and even showed Carl gazing into a car and then looks underneath it, like his father did. An abandoned child's bicycle also lies strewn on a lawn mirroring the discarded tricycle on the grass in Rick's scene.

The scene has caused a lot of questions to be asked about the upcoming eighth season of "The Walking Dead." This is after writer Robert Kirkman confirmed that Rick would be meeting his demise at some point.

"No one is safe," Kirkman explained during the convention. "Hopefully there have been points where you go, 'Is this it? Is this where Rick dies?' And he doesn't."

There are also questions being asked about why Carl is alone as well as when exactly is this scene taking place in the timeline of the show. After all, the series has been known to chop and change events from time to time with regards to when they actually happened.

Aside from revealing Rick's demise this season, Kirkman also revealed that the show will also feature a crossover with its prequel and companion series "Fear The Walking Dead." According to Kirkman, the crossover is set to happen next year.

"There is one character that is going to go from one show, that I will not name, to another show, that I will not name," Kirkman said. "This is a huge event in the world of 'The Walking Dead.'"
