In a Hollywood Reporter exclusive interview, Kirkman expressed his belief the partnership with Universal will help him and "The Walking Dead" co-producer, David Alpert, achieve the goals they set for Skybound when they started the company five years ago.

The deal has sparked off speculations a possible "The Walking Dead" movie may be in the works, and while no plans have yet been discussed towards such a project, the show's ratings success, with a series high of 15.8 million viewers, may be the key to bringing a film project on the table.

Lincoln, 41, who plays "The Walking Dead's" main character, Rick Grimes, has expressed his interest and hopes in playing his Grimes role on the big screen, Inquirer writes.

He states a lot of room is open to play with the show's form, time, and even chronology, bringing back characters and other fan favorites who have been killed off or are no longer in the show.

With the massive fan base already following the series, which is due to begin filming for season six, Lincoln believes a feature film may not be far off, allowing the show to explore other elements of "The Walking Dead" universe that couldn't be pulled off in the television series.
