In the blog post titled "Leavin' On a Jetplane," he mentioned that he was off to the East to attend a baseball game and to attend to a launch of "Dinosaur Lords." The intriguing part of his post which left many a fan wondering if he was hinting on his new novel was: "And while I will be travelling, my army of minions will be here at the old homestead, toiling in the paper mines."

According to another report in Christian Today, fans are speculating that the "minions" he mentioned in the post refers to those who are working in his publishing house, while the term "paper mines" refers to the printers. Putting the two together is said to indicate that one of his books, and fans are hoping it is "Winds of Winter" may have found its way to the printers already and may come out before the end of the year. Other reports however are saying that he may be referring to another book from his "Wild Cards" series.

If these rumors turn out to be true, fans of the novel series will be very ecstatic. They have waiting for the release of sixth novel in the series for a long time. In April of this year, Martin vowed to finish the book and even cancelled several public appearances just so he can concentrate on the novel. He said that the novel will definitely be out before the start of Season 6 of HBO's "Game of Thrones."

In an earlier Entertainment Weekly report, Martin also shared that in the novel, he will be making a "big, revealing twist on a long-time character that he never previously considered." He called this twist "something that seems very organic and natural, and I could see how it would happen. And with the various three, four characters involved … it all makes sense. But it's nothing I've ever thought of before."
