Psalm 130:1-6
Which words come to mind when you think of waiting?
Delay?
Obstacle?
Time wasted?
The Lords perspective is very different. He says those who wait on Him will be blessed. (Isaiah 30:18) Pausing to hear from our Father is always the wisest action we can take. Thats how we receive clear direction. As believers, were not to operate as the world does. We dont determine our course by human reasoning or the example of others. Our guidance is to come from Godthe one who instructs us in the way which we should go. (Psalm 32:8)
When we pause to hear from God, we also keep in step with the timing of His plan. Seize the moment is our cultures philosophy. But, wait for the Lord should be the Christians. One of the blessings of following Gods timetable is that difficult people and situations can be endured with inner confidence and peace. We know were in the place God wants us to be, and He has promised to take care of us.
We acquire the necessary preparation when we wait on Him. God knows just what training we need for both the joys and sorrows that await us. As we cooperate with Him, the time spent waiting will prove productive and beneficial.

Finally, waiting on the Lord purifies our motives and strengthens our faith. God will use waiting time to reveal sinful behavior and motivations. He filters our inner thoughts and helps to us develop new heart attitudes. Pauses give us the opportunity to deepen our trust and dependence on Him.
For a Christian, waiting on God is both purposeful and beneficial. Now is a good time to start practicing this important discipline.
