'The X-Files' Cast News, Update: Fox Confirms Series Creator, Stars on Board for Season 11

The hunt for the truth continues as Fox confirmed that a new installment of its hit cult classic TV series "The X-Files" is coming right up.

The news was delivered by Fox TV Group chairpersons and CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman during the recent upfront press call. Both executives sound very hopeful, if not, enthusiastic on the possibility for an 11th season of the sci-fi horror drama.

"We have had conversations with (creator) Chris Carter and (stars) David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson," Walden said, according to Deadline. "I believe everyone is on board to do another installment of the show."

Walden, however, clarified that Carter, Duchovny, who stars as Fox Mulder, and Anderson, as Dana Scully, are currently tied to their individual projects but they are hoping that the talks will pull off as they intend to make the announcement by May next year.

Newman chimed in to say that "conversations" between parties "are ongoing."

"I can tell you that all of them would like to do more of these, and certainly the network and studio want to do more," the network official said, while noting that they are eyeing for the next installment to premiere by 2017.

The renewal shouldn't come off as a big surprise at all for the fans. Back in February, Carter expressed his confidence that Fox will pick up more episodes of the show in the future.

"I can't imagine, with the ratings that we've got and the way we ended this season, that there won't be more 'X-Files,' Carter told TVLine. "They will find a way to get that done." Carter, who also co-produced the show, revealed that he had already spoken with Walden and noted that "there's an appetite there" to renew the show.

As for what Season 11 is going to be, Carter told Entertainment Weekly that it will be an "ongoing story." Stay tuned for more updates.
