'The X-Files' Revival News, Update: Official Teaser Promo Released This Week Heightens the Anticipation

Cable network Fox recently unveiled the first official promo video for the highly-anticipated six episode mini-season revival of the cult-classic TV series "The X-Files."

The highlight reel was released during the airing of "Gotham" and "Minority Report" and it shows scenes of nuclear explosions, angry mob protests, military force parade, surveillance technology, mysteriously looking babies and a lot of puzzling stuff which makes the series what it is since its inception.

The trailer also featured the show's lead characters, Fox Mulder (David Duchovny), who looks battered and worn out, and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson), who appears to be in a perfect place until the former called.

Ever concerned for her partner, Scully warned Mulder that he is once again "on a dangerous ground." But stubborn as he is, Mulder gripped Dana's shoulders and assured her that he knows what he is doing.

Also worth noting in the video is the appearance of an old man whom Mulder confided with something. There's also a young man from a flashback scene accompanying a group of investigators who are looking for something on a desert plain which would most probably be the infamous Area 51.

Of course, there's a clear hint of the return of the Cigarette Smoking Man whose presence was signified with a lighted cigarette.

The new "X-Files" is slated to return to Fox with a special two-night event on Sunday, Jan. 24 at 10 p.m., following the NFC Championship game. After which, the show will continue on its Monday airing schedule at 8 p.m.

For those lucky enough, an advanced screening is also reported to happen for the show. First will be at the 2015 MIPCOM event in Cannes this Tuesday, October 6.

After which, a special presentation for the brand new episodes of the revival series will be held on Saturday, October 10, at the upcoming New York Comic Con event in Javits Centre Main Stage in New York.

Following the advanced screening, the cabler will host a Q&A session that is expected to have the participation of Duchovny as well as the show's creator, Chris Carter. Panel will be moderated by "Silicon Valley" star Kumail Nanjiani, who is also slated to appear as a guest star in the limited series event.
