Although the network's press release failed to point out the exact details as to what the revival will talk about, a report from Screen Rant speculated that the show will stick on its case-of-the-week formula. Otherwise, the new show could pick a single mystery case for its long-time favorite major characters Agent Scully (Gillian Anderson) and Agent Mulder (David Duchovny) to take on over the course of the six episodes.

Filming for the the show is expected to commence this summer and will largely take place in Vancouver.

Chris Carter, who is returning to executive produce the upcoming show, sat down earlier with the Vancouver Sun to reveal that his main reason to choose the said place is its "dark" and "wintertime" ambience.

"It gives you a tremendous natural environment to shoot in and also a free atmosphere … You get long, dark nights in the wintertime. 'X-Files' is a show that a lot of it is night-time work, you get moodiness, you get oftentimes a grey cast that really helps the look of the show," Carter said.
