'The X-Files' Season 11 Spoilers, Cast News: Show Bringing Back Robert Patrick?

"The X-Files" season 11 could see the return of Robert Patrick as Agent John Doggett.

Series creator Chris Carter recently told TVLine that the actor was supposed to appear in one of the first episodes of the next season, but there was a change of plans due to a scheduling conflict with his current project "Scorpion."

Carter explained of Patrick's seemingly kiboshed "The X-Files" season 11 appearance:

I actually wrote him into an episode. But then I found out he wasn't going to be available to us so I had to write him out of the episode ... "Scorpion" is his first priority.

While it looks like an appearance of Agent John Doggett in the first installments of "The X-Files" season 11 is unlikely, Carter hinted that this is not the end of it, teasing:

That's not to say you won't see him this season ...

It is looking likely that Patrick will pop up at some point in "The X-Files" season 11 although there is no way of knowing when. Either way, it looks like Agent John Doggett will be back soon with Patrick down with reprising his role, as per TVLine.

The FBI Special Agent first appeared in the eighth and penultimate season of the science fiction hit and continued on in the final season.

He is one of the very few characters from the original series who are yet to appear in "The X-Files" revival so fans are excited about the possibility.

Season 11 will have 10 episodes and will focus on Scully (Gillian Anderson) and Mulder's (David Duchovny) son. Mitch Pileggi and William B. Davis will step into their respective iconic roles as FBI Assistant Director Walter Skinner and as the Cigarette Smoking Man for the season.

"The X-Files" season 11 will premiere in early 2018. Anderson has hinted the possibility that this could be her last.
