'The Young and the Restless' Cast News and Spoilers: Michael Muhney Replacement Hired, Adam Newman Returning This Month?

"The Young and the Restless" star Michael Muhney was fired from the show earlier this year, but his character Adam Newman may make a return as soon as this month, according to reports this week.

Muhney last appeared on the soap opera in January- after he had been accused of sexual harassment, including the groping of cast member Hunter King (Summer Newman), and fired from the show. It was believed that Adam had died in a fiery car crash, but "Y&R" fans soon learned that he was very much alive and had faked his own death. More recently, reports have surfaced indicating that "Y&R" producer Jill Farren Phelps was searching for an actor to replace Muhney as Adam, and it is only a matter of time until that actor makes his debut.

Last month, a scene including Adam and his accomplice revealed that he was alive, but fans were never able to see Adam's face. As it turns out, the scene was cleverly shot to exclude the actor's face because "Y&R" showrunners had not yet found a replacement actor.

However, the latest edition of CBS Soaps In Depth revealed that "the soap is actively searching for an actor to succeed Michael Muhney in the role, and in early April contenders will be considered," reported Celebrity Dirty Laundry. If the report is true, "Y&R" producers may have already hired an actor after the early April auditions, and are likely preparing to reintroduce Adam in the near future.

Regardless of Adam's faked death, the beloved character has remained central to "Y&R" over the last few months. Furthermore, Muhney's firing and Adam's consequent disappearance enraged many "Y&R" fans, with some still boycotting the show today. Countless fans have also voiced their support for Muhney who recently broke his silence on his firing from the iconic soap opera.

"Lotta good people in this world," he wrote on April 28- almost six months after his firing. "I'm thankful each and every day for the overwhelming love."
