"This Easter, the entire family can experience the 'Passion' story — even the youngest family members," states the news release from NEST Family Entertainment.

"The Animated Passion Trilogy — created by the director of numerous Disney favorites including Fox and the Hound and The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh — is a family-friendly DVD series offering the Easter story of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ."

The producer and distributor of The Animated Passion Trilogy, NEST Family Entertainment "blends colorful, child-appropriate story-telling with Biblical accuracy" into three DVDs, each 30 minutes long.

The Trilogy has combined the high Disney quality of Director Richard Rich with Biblical accuracy, relying on an advisory board of four theologians from differing faith traditions both in Christianity and Judaism.

"We make sure that it conforms with Scripture," said Ernie Frausto, president of NEST Family Entertainment.

Worthy is the Lamb is the story of the betrayal and crucifixion of Jesus, while He is Risen is the story of Jesus’ resurrection and ascension, and The Kingdom of Heaven shows the parables of Jesus and His return.

“Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ is an extraordinary film, but because of its graphic content, it may not be appropriate for young children,” said Frausto. “These same powerful truths about Christ’s passion are also offered in our Animated Passion Trilogy, but in a video series that the whole family can watch together.”

"What's exciting is that parents can sit down and young child can understand about Christ's sacrifice," said Frausto.

The Trilogy, which was produced at exactly the same time that Gibson was directing Passion, is different from the major blockbuster in another way. Not only does it cut out the graphic violence inappropriate for children, but the film also tells more of the story of Jesus Christ, his life, death and resurrection than the movie. The movie only tells the story of one day, while the trilogy covers the last three public years of Jesus' life.

Released recently during Christmas 2004, this Easter, the Trilogy is a great alternative for those interested in seeing the entire story of the resurrection and ascension, said Frausto, who pointed out that critics are appreciative of this inclusion.

"I think it's key that it does have the resurrection and ascension.' That seems to be what retailers and others appreciate - that it does tell that aspect of the story."

The 3 DVD's include both English and Spanish language tracks, and can be found in Christian bookstores nationwide for $29.95. Frausto has stated that it is a good mission outreach tool.
