'This Is Us' Season 2 Episode 4 Reveals Kate's Pregnancy

The latest episode of the popular NBC show "This Is Us" just ended with a spectacular reveal.

On Tuesday night, "This Is Us" gave its viewers something totally unexpected. Ever since the show first started to air on NBC, it definitely had shown itself as a skillful provider of surprises, and season 2 episode 4 is no exception as it has been revealed that the sole female of the show's Big Three is six weeks pregnant.

The episode had centered on the Big Three, namely Randall, Kevin and Kate, and how each of them is obsessing about their own personal issues. For Randall, he tries so hard to become an authoritative figure to his foster child, Deja. Kevin, on the other hand, is fussing over how he could speed up the recovery of his broken leg. But the episode's standout would have to be Kate Pearson herself, who, at the beginning, was clearly obsessing about her weight.

The Kate and Toby plotline for the episode has definitely misdirected the show's viewers. At first, it was a little bit curious to see Kate, played by Chrissy Metz, obsessing about losing some weight so that she could fit the dress she would be wearing for a Bat Mitzvah she would be performing at. This action is certainly contradictory to the body positivity message she had been sending since the show began.

Her fiance, Toby, played by Chris Sullivan, doesn't seem to be all too supportive of Kate's excessive desire to lose weight. There was even a point she was in a drug store and was headed to words a "Weight Loss" section.

However, as it turns out at the end of the episode, Kate actually has a good reason to shed some of her weight, and it's not just because of a gig she has. It is revealed that she is actually six months pregnant and that she wants to be fit and healthy for the sake of the life now living inside her.

Unfortunately, Toby has yet to learn of his fiance's pregnancy, and it certainly is intriguing how the character would be able to handle this great and shocking news.

"This Is Us" airs every Tuesday night at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
