'This Is Us' Updates: Ryan Michelle Bathe Joins Cast; Show Named as One of Fall's Best New Shows

"This Is Us" dramedy trailer from NBC has more than 95 million views on Facebook and Twitter; dubbed as one of the most anticipated shows this fall.

When creators of "This Is Us" released its trailer, they did not realize that it is going to be an awesome success. In just 24 hours, the online teaser has managed to get millions of views, with positive comments outpouring from the video comments section. The trailer led viewers to anticipate the show, which will be aired in September on NBC.

Why the positive turnout?

Reports call "This Is Us" a tearjerker and a series about parenthood  tthat almost everyone can relate to. The plot is about a group of friends with the same birthdays and what exactly happened to these people on that day.

Starring Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, and an ensemble of new and formidable faces on television, "This Is Us" lets viewers see what it is like to be parents, friends, and co-workers who go through different challenges in life.

Ryan Michelle Bathe joins cast

It is official, Ryan Michelle Bathe of "Boston Legal" and "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", has accepted a recurring role in "This Is Us". Ryan Michelle will be joining Sterling K. Brown, her real-life husband who is also in the series.

Ryan Michelle Bathe will be cast as Yvette, a new friend of Jack and Rebecca (Ventimiglia and Moore). Yvette is strikingly different from Jack and Rebecca since she is outspoken, strong, and lively. She will play an important role iin keeping the two sane as they begin their lives as parents of twins.

Lives intertwined

What's curious about "This Is Us" is how the lives of a group of friends intertwine, considering that they all have the same birthdays. The teaser trailer showed the two main characters in a very intimate bedroom moment when suddenly, Rebecca had to be rushed to the hospital to deliver her babies.

Still another part of the trailer was a plus-sized woman played by Chrissy Metz, who was getting conscious about her weight. And because it was her birthday, she had to endure being the center of attention.

There are also small bits and scenes about friends celebrating their birthdays climaxing on how the Rebecca and Jack lost one of their newborns.

NBC calls the series a "dramedy", or a But reports say that fans are not convinced with the comedy part just yet.

The "This Is Us" video gave fans an eyeful of what to expect on September 20 on NBC. The teaser trailer with a record-breaking 98 million + views on Facebook and YouTube, is still online for viewers to see and comment on.
