Thor 3 Movie: Thor to Battle Surtur and Fire Demons in Armageddon?

The third Thor title in the Marvel Universe franchise is expected to come out sometime in 2016, a year after the Age of Ultron. It is a wonder, however, on what Thor will face next in the third movie title.

In the first film, Thor faced the mighty Frost Giants from Jotunheim. Then in the second film, Thor met with the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim with Malekith leading them. If the film follows the canon of the comic books, then in the third Thor film, our Asgardian hero could be facing off against Surtur and his fire demons from Muspelheim.

What's more, Surtur is a thousand-foot demon from another realm, so arranging the special effects for that will be a challenge. Marvel Studios and Chris Hemsworth would have a lot of work to do.

In the comics, Thor faces against Surtur during Ragnarok, the Asgardian End of Days. The Asgardian apocalypse represents a huge story arc in the comics and could be carried over to the film.

Hemsworth, who plays as Thor in the film and in the Avengers, has said he has not read the script for Age of Ultron but has an idea on where "Thor 3" is headed.

"I think that in the comic book the sort of end of days, Armageddon aspect is probably the direction in which it will all head in. Where it's sort of the end of all things and there's obviously no script or anything when I read the comic books I thought it was an interesting way to go," he told Kofi Outlaw of ScreenRant.

Executive producer Craig Kyle teased about the idea of Ragnarok and how it is related to the Tree of Yggdrasil in the film.

"And the effects and woes and success of the universe are spoken through this, this living object. So should the end of all things ever come this would probably be the first thing to fall," Kyle said.
