'Thor 3' Release Date, News and Rumors: Movie Titled 'Ragnarok' or 'The End of All Things'

Earlier this week, Marvel Studios announced during a big event in Los Angeles that the upcoming "Thor 3" movie will be officially titled, "Thor: Ragnarok." Ragnarok, in Norse mythology, means the doom of the gods and the humans.

As stated in the press event, the threequel will arrive in theaters on July 28, 2017. The date, as seen by some, indicates a significant break to the busy schedule of the franchise's leading star, Chris Hemsworth, who has been tied to a lot of projects for the next two years.

The 31-year-old Australian actor is reportedly set to star in "In the Heart of the Sea," "I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive" (the reboot of "National Lampoon's Vacation"), "Vacation," as well as on the purported Snow White movie sequel.

Hemsworth, as Thor, is expected to be seen in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe title, "Avengers: Age of Ultron," which will arrive on theaters on May 1, 2015.

As for "Thor: Ragnarok," the comic books reveal that Ragnarok is Thor's clone that appeared in the "Civil War" storyline. This strongly suggests that the forthcoming sequel will closely be tied-in to another Marvel film, "Captain America 3," which has been revealed to have the title of "Captain America: Civil War."

"This is a very important movie for us in Phase 3," Marvel Studio's head Kevin Feige said during the event. "We plan on taking Thor to another level. It picks up where we leave Thor in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' and impacts everything that comes after."

Aside from Hemsworth, "Thor 3" will once again see the acts of Tom Hiddleston as Loki, the Norse God/Superhero's evil brother.
