'Thor 3' Latest Spoilers, News: Marvel in Need of A Director for Sequel

Rumors have been swirling about the upcoming third sequel of the Chris Hemsworth-led "Thor." Adding to the string of rumors is this particular information from a tipster who said that the studio is currently in a dire need for a director who will take on the reins of the Thor franchise.

A person who goes by the username of "The_Marvel_Intern" on Reddit wrote that he had worked with the company back in Summer 2013 as an intern. For no apparent reason revealed, the person said that he got laid off.

What he dished out to the millions of users in the forum site is that Marvel has treated the Thor films as if it is already in its "critical condition."

"Many felt as if the first film had too much humor without striking the right balance, and that The Dark World had too many behind-the-scenes issues that in Marvels eyes, prevented it from being as big of a hit as it could be," the Redditor said.

Given this situation, the studio is now in the lookout for a director "who will treat the Thor franchise with a lot of respect" and will "take on the source material more" seriously.

As for who could take on the project, the user said that the front runner is "currently Adam McKay."

"Both Marvel and McKay saw a lot of potential on both sides in working together. Mckay understands these characters, more so then the perception of him probably allows. Also, because he's worked with Marvel, the studio is comfortable working with him and knows the type of output he'll churn out," he said.

Another who is also up for consideration is Gareth Edwards whose current project is "Godzilla."

"It's said that it was Edwards ability to balance the large scale battles of Godzilla with the brevity of the human characters that has Marvel confident he's a good fit for the job," the user went on to say.

The last person on his list is the "Dawn of The Planet of The Apes" helmer Matt Reeves.

He "is being considered mainly due to his success in taking over the Apes franchise from Rupert Wyatt where he dug in his heels and really created a better film. Marvel is essentially hoping someone can do the same with Thor, and thinks that he has a good vision for the third Thor film," he said.

"The_Marvel_Intern" ended his post by noting that he's got a lot more information ready to dish out if it "feels like its something worth knowing."

"Thor 3: Ragnarok" is reported to open on theaters in July 28, 2017.
