The Seahawks enter the game with a 4-2 record and recorded an impressive win against the New England Patriots in their last game. That will have lifted their confidence and they will enter this big game believing they can win.

They managed to nullify Tom Brady effectively, and if they can perform in a similar way today it would give them a great chance to get the win against the 49ers.

San Francisco are also 4-2 but oppositely are coming into this game on the back of a loss to the New York Giants. With the Giants stuttering early season, many had thought, seeing as the 49ers were at home and had being playing some fantastic football in recent weeks, that San Francisco would gain revenge over New York for their NFC Championship loss last season.

However, they were surprisingly wiped out by the Giants, and the manner of the loss will have been concerning for 49ers' fans and players.

Alex Smith has had an impressive season, barring the problems he suffered against the Giants last week. Prior to that game he had an 8-1 touchdown-interception ratio, and was a big reason that the 49ers had done so well over the first weeks of the season. However, Smith put on a poor display against the Giants. If that same Smith shows up tonight then the 49ers can kiss this game goodbye, but if the Smith from earlier in the season comes out then San Francisco could claim the win.
