Tiger Woods Appoints New Caddie: Will Joe LaCava Revitalize His Career?

Tiger Woods has once again replaced his Caddie, this time in the form of Joe LaCava.

LaCava will become Woods’ new caddie after the golfer replaced his longtime club carrier Steve Williams for friend, Byron Bell. LaCava joins Woods’ team as the former caddie for Fred Couples, who he was with when the golfer won the 1992 Masters tournament.

Woods spoke about his decision to acquire LaCava on his website.

“This was an important decision, and I wanted to think about it carefully,” Woods wrote on his website. “Also, out of deference for the FedExCup Playoffs, I decided to wait until they were concluding to have substantive talks. We then spoke to Joe and came to an agreement."

Woods, the highest paid athlete in 2010, said he has had a relationship with LaCava in the past and feels positive about the change.

“I have known him for many years," Woods said on his website. "I'm anxious for us to be working together."

LaCava seemed just as excited to work with the notorious golfer.

"I'm excited to be working with Tiger," LaCava said, according to Woods’ website. "I contacted Tiger and Mark because this is a unique opportunity to be part of something very special. Tiger and I have been friends for a very long time, and I know what he can do.”

Fans of Woods seem just as excited about LaCava joining the golfer’s crew.

“Great pick Tiger. LaCava seems like a class act all the way,” one person wrote on Woods’ site. “(An) educated golf fans know he has the resume. This is great going into the President's Cup. This is the spark to get things going.”

The two will first appear with one another at the Frys.com Open from Oct. 6-9.
