Tim Tebow News: Former Quarterback Makes Spring Training Debut for the Mets

Tim Tebow has just made his baseball spring training debut for the New York Mets. Since it is not every day that a rookie like Tebow makes such a debut, his first spring training was covered by the media, with about 30 people watching him during his workout and securing autographs afterwards.

On Feb. 27, Tebow attended his first spring training for the Mets minor league team and found the cameras waiting for him. The former National Football League (NFL) quarterback inked a minor league contract with the team on Sept, 8, 2016.

During the training, Tebow, who is also a known Christian advocate, managed to wow everyone with his precise hitting ability. According to CBS Sports, there was a point during the batting practice when he knocked four home runs in just a span of five pitches.

While fans were generally happy about his move from football to baseball, critics were quick to criticize his decision. Despite all this, Tebow has remained optimistic and did not pay much attention to their scorn.

"I focus on what I can control. I'm not going to worry about what everybody's writing or saying," he said. The player also added that his goal is not really to make it to the team but to be able to improve his skills as an athlete.

In an earlier interview, Tebow was asked about making it to the big league even for a day. The player said, "That's not just the ultimate goal. The ultimate goal is to be able to enjoy it every day, and I can honestly sit here before every one of you and I can honestly say I've had so much fun training, pursuing it, getting hits, striking out, whatever it's been."

Now that Tebow is on his way to getting assigned to Class-A St. Lucie, there is a huge chance for ticket sales to go swiftly this season.
