Tim Tebow News: Tebow Visits Hurricane Irma Victims, Gives Inspirational Talk

Fresh from his freshman year at the minor league with the Mets, Tim Tebow is currently busy doing his rounds as a media influencer while waiting for his return to the team in 2018.

The 30-year-old former football quarterback-turned-professional baseball outfielder was spotted Thursday, Sept. 21, on Big Pine Key, Florida with Senator Marco Rubio and several local officials and volunteers to give aid for residents who were struck by Hurricane Irma earlier this month.

Tebow and the group inspected the damages brought by the Category 5 hurricane that also battered the Caribbean. They also distributed food to the victims of the weather disturbance while they are in the area.

In an interview with NBC 6 that was reported by WPTV, the 2017 Heisman Trophy awardee claimed that the destruction caused by Irma cannot be repaired in just one day. However, he wanted all the victims to know that they are not alone and they are being cared for.

"You see so many people that aren't sure what's going on for their houses but they are still volunteering for other people that need help. And they are going above and beyond. And there are a lot of heroes in the state right now. It's pretty cool," he also stated.

Before his relief operation in Florida, Tebow had a speaking engagement in Alabama on Wednesday for a religious event.

According to a report from AL.com, Tebow talked about how he made a decision about the college path that he wants to pursue during his high school senior year where he opted to pick the University of Florida instead of the University of Alabama.

In front of the 14,000 attendees, the Christian athlete revealed that he based his decision after his final consultation with his father. He reportedly told his dad that he wants to work with the best people, which is why he decided to pick the team where Coach Urban Meyer works. This led him to pick the University of Florida's Gators football team.

Tebow is expected to return to the Mets in the 2018 season.
