Tim Tebow Rejects $1 Million Offer to Play in Russian Football League

Tim Tebow won't be playing football in Russia anytime soon as the former NFL quarterback rejected a million dollar offer to play with Moscow's Black Storm for two games.

"Unfortunately agents of Tim Tebow turn down our proposal," Mikhail Zaltsman, owner of the Moscow Black Storm, told Russian sports-news service R-Sport. "I hope that its Tebow's agents' fault that the contract wasn't signed and Tim couldn't do anything about it. If it was his decision – it's very upsetting. And in this case we don't want him in our team anyway."

Tebow is currently a free agent after being cut by the New England Patriots at the end of training camp. Prior to that, the former Nease High and University of Florida quarterback was cut by the New York Jets.

"I will remain in relentless pursuit of continuing my lifelong dream of being an NFL quarterback," Tebow said in a message on Twitter after being released by the Patriots.

Mikhail Zaltsman, owner of the Moscow Black Storm football team, previously told Russia Beyond the Headlines his plan to fly Tebow in to play in an American Football Championship of Russia (AFCR) semifinal game against the Moscow Patriots at the end of September.

"I talked with him personally and he wanted to go," Zaltsman previously told RBTH.

The team owner also said Tebow's agents were standing in the way of the deal.

"They're thinking of using him as a motivational speaker," he said. "They don't want him to play football."

Unlike NFL rules, AFCR rules would allow Tebow to sport Bible verse references on his eye black, just as he did while playing for the University of Florida Gators.
