Tim Tebow to Speak at Pro-Life Pregnancy Center

NFL quarterback Tim Tebow will speak at a pro-life pregnancy center in Texas on April 26, a month after his controversial decision not to speak at Dr. Robert Jeffress' First Baptist Church of Dallas for Easter.

"We're thrilled he's coming and delighted to have him," said Carolyn Cline, president and CEO of Involved for Life, according to Dallas News. "He's a great fit and a great stand-up guy."

Tebow is still one of the most popular Christian sports figures, despite being out of favor at the NY Jets.

A day later, the football player will also speak at the Trinity Christian Academy fundraiser about his life experiences as a Christian.

"TCA is thrilled to have an iconic football star join us for our annual fundraising dinner, and we look forward to hearing Tim Tebow's testimony and learning more about his life experiences," TCA Headmaster Dave Delph said.

Tebow sparked controversy when he canceled a speaking engagement at the opening of First Baptist Church of Dallas' new campus. Gay activist bloggers and some mainstream media broadcasters and reporters had questioned Tebow's decision to appear with Jeffress, whom some consider a "controversial evangelical Christian" due to comments he had made against homosexuality, Mormonism and Catholicism.

"Due to new information that has been brought to my attention, I have decided to cancel my upcoming appearance. I will continue to use the platform God has blessed me with to bring Faith, Hope and Love to all those needing a brighter day," Tebow said on his Twitter back in February, regarding First Baptist Church.

In response, Jeffress told his congregation:

"We are not going to kneel to political correctness and convenience. We're going to stand up and boldly proclaim the grace of God and the truth of God, without compromise, so help me God that is my commitment."

The 25-year-old quarterback was accused by some conservatives of giving in to liberal media pressure and for backing down on his principles.

Involved for Life, Inc., supports the work of the Downtown Pregnancy Center, Uptown Women's Center and Sonograms on Site ministry. Its mission is to educate and empower women to make informed decisions.
