Tim Tebow's Spirituality 'Very Appealing,' Says New England Patriots Owner

The owner of NFL franchise The New England Patriots, who recently signed quarterback Tim Tebow, said that the popular Christian athlete's spiritually is "very appealing."

"For me personally, having Tim Tebow on this team, he's someone who believes in spirituality, he's very competitive and works hard, and has a great attitude, and he's a winner. So having him as part of our franchise is great, but he has to compete just like anyone else," said Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who is Jewish, in an interview on Wednesday with ESPN.

"We're blessed to have a lot of people like that, but the fact that spirituality is very important to him is very appealing to me."

Tebow fans around America rejoiced earlier this week to news that he has finally found a new team to play for. The athlete has been outspoken about his faith, speaking at campuses and various events and encouraging other Christians, which has brought him both praise and scrutiny in the media.

Following his release from the Jets after the end of last season, Tebow posted a single message on Twitter, Proverbs 3:5-6, reading: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."

Kraft said that he has been impressed by Tebow whenever he has met him, and revealed that he has never heard anyone say anything but positive things about the quarterback.

The Patriots owner explained that he really likes Tebow's hard work and cooperative nature on the field, and said he doesn't think there is "any coach who wouldn't like to have a team full of people like he is."

The NFL franchise owner continued: "So like Brady, who goes out there and works hard, or Vince Wilfork or Jerod Mayo. They come in, they work hard, they prepare hard and they're all business. You can't get enough people like that on your team, so we're honored that he's with us."

On Tuesday, Tebow expressed his gratitude to the Patriots, saying that he is "very thankful."

"It's such an honor to be a Patriot and play for coach Belichick and coach McDaniels, and learn under Tom [Brady] and be a part of this great franchise and very successful franchise," he said. "I found out first hand; lost to them several times."

While Tebow's position in the team has not yet been determined, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick insisted that the Christian athlete is "a talented player that is smart and works hard," saying he is glad to have him on board.
