'Timeless' Season 2 Spoilers: Is Emma Really Loyal to Rittenhouse?
Emma (Annie Wersching) may turn out to be the wildcard that Team Time needs to take down Rittenhouse in the next installment of "Timeless."
Fans of the series are patiently waiting for the new season to arrive to learn what will happen to Wyatt (Matt Lanter), Lucy (Abigail Spencer) and the others following the huge revelation about the Prestons. Currently, the show's writers are reportedly busy writing the new storylines for the second installment. Though NBC has yet to reveal a release date, speculations indicate that it will air next year.
Much of the hype for the upcoming season concerns Lucy's predicament now that it has been revealed that her entire family is part of Rittenhouse. Carol (Susanna Thompson) told her that the Prestons have been serving as one of the foundations of the group for many centuries already. Lucy has been chosen as the next head of the family, which means that she will have to face off with her former friends sooner or later.

Lucy's fate seems to be sealed, but there may still be a chance for her. Wersching's character in the series is turning out to be an enigma. Previously, it was revealed that she became Flynn's (Goran Višnjić) partner to help Rittenhouse steal the time machine from him. Spoilers indicate that she will soon try to reach out to him and explain what happened, but Flynn is definitely biding his time until he can get revenge.
Executive producer Shawn Ryan previously hinted that there might be more to Emma than meets the eye.
"We will definitely owe some answers and explanations for this in Season 2, but once again, it was always our plan that she was secretly Rittenhouse and she was hiding out in the 1880s for Rittenhouse reasons that we will need to explain. We'll see what stories we want to tell and how available our actress is to be on the show!" the EP teased via interview with Deadline.
NBC has not yet released any update on "Timeless" season 2 but the show is expected to return in 2018.
