Tom Clancy's The Division Set for Release Next Year for PC, PS4 and Xbox One

Ubisoft's Tom Clancy's The Division was featured at Eurogamer Expo last month and brand art director Rodrigo Cortes talked about the game's highlights, which were all featured in the new gameplay trailer.

Described as a post-apocalyptic, third person shooter MMO, "The Division" has this premise according to the game's official website.

"In the wake of a devastating pandemic that sweeps through New York City, basic services fail one by one, and without access to food and water, the city quickly descends into chaos. As a last resort, a classified unit of self-supported tactical agents known as The Division is activated. Leading seemingly ordinary lives among us, The Division agents are trained to operate independent of command when all else fails," the website states.

"Fighting back to prevent the fall of society and piece the city back together, the agents will find themselves caught in a worldwide conspiracy, forced to combat not only the effects of a man-made virus, but also the rising threat of those who unleashed it. When everything collapses, The Division's mission begins," it continued.

Players take on the roles of characters in The Division, and the group is given direct orders from the President to combat the outbreak and save lives. Because it has an MMO format, one will come up against AI enemies and other players in the streets of post-apocalyptic Manhattan.

During E3 2013, Ubisoft announced that players can play the game on tablets and that players can join the game as a drone to provide tactical support to those who are playing on game consoles or PC.

Though it was announced that the game will be available for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One, Ubisoft has not given an exact release date for The Division. The official statement from the development team mentions that it will "be available in 2015."
