'Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5' is a Big Mess, Game Filled with Bugs and Glitches

"Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5" was just released last Tuesday on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One but it has not gained positive feedback since its arrival. Although it didn't promise a good game, Activision's end product did not even reach the minimum expectations of the game. As The Verge puts it, the newest installment in the skateboarding franchise appeared like a "touched-up version of a decades-old game."

The team behind the game even made some last minute changes in the art styles, shifting from the traditional 3D look to an almost cel-shaded effect. Obviously, their strategy to change it up midway through development was not the best idea and it didn't even bring any improvement at all. The most notable problems in the game are the glitches and the physics bugs. Eurogamer did gamers a favor by creating a compilation video featuring the glitches caught in under 60 minutes of gameplay.

The video showed how messy the game is with Tony Hawk going under into sidewalks, getting stuck in ramps, whirling wildly, flying through halfpipes and contorting in a very gruesome way. Techno Buffalo reported that all of the bugs came after the massive day-one patch was installed. The size of the patch was also learned to be a disappointing one as it comes in 7.7GB, larger than the game itself which is a 4.6GB download. Sources say that the game is unplayable without downloading the patch.

According to Games Radar, there's an unspoken reason that led to the release of the game in a very messy state. It's been discovered that the "Tony Hawk" license for Activision expires at the end of this year. It's the best explanation why they had to release it right away even with the bugs and glitches.

Activision has placed a $60 price tag for the "Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5" on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 while the game will cost $39.99 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
