Extra had a recent interview with the actor during the premiere of "Rogue Nation." When asked about "Top Gun 2," Cruise stated that "I have not thought about it. We have not turned our eye to it. I don't know."

But there's still hope. Cruise went on to tease that if he and Jerry can "figure it out," he would certainly do it.

"I like to fly those jets again!" the actor said.

And there's a catch: he would only do it if everything is practical and not computer-generated.

"We've got to do all the jets practical. No CGI on the jets. I remember when I did the first one, I said 'Look, in my contract I had to have three flights in the F-14.' And it had to be in the film, a shot from that. So we had to film it. And luckily they wanted me bad enough to do it, so I was able to do that. I'm saying right now – no CGI on the jets. If we can figure all that out, and the Department of Defense will allow us to do it, that would be fun," the actor said.
