Top Scorers for La Liga 2016: Suarez Storming the League; Messi-Ronaldo Rivalry to Resume Soon

Luis Suarez is en route to another record-shattering La Liga performance. Suarez starts the season with three goals. Another breakthrough for the Barcelona star is the 100 percent accuracy at the opener. Current standings set Suarez for one goal in every 30 minutes within a 90-minute regulation. Here are the leaders in La Liga scoring charts.

The Suarez fever

The "Suarez fever" is storming La Liga since the opening kickoff. The current pace is reminiscent of last season when the 29-year old Uruguayan finished with 40 goals. There is doubt though if he can keep up with 120 goals he made in multiple campaigns and season. The best of them being the last 16 goals in his last six games. These set the striker apart to the elite club.

Suarez is also widely-regarded as prospect to shatter the Cristiano Ronaldo - Lionel Messi rivalry. There is however, a need to break the 50-goal barrier per season to truly get at par with the two.

Lionel Messi starts La Liga with the best goal so far

In comparison, Suarez is right on track but not far from Lionel Messi. It appears that Messi is on for a shooting competition with his teammate. Messi is closing in against Suarez with two goals for every 45 minutes in 90-minute play. Ironically, the super scorer also had the chance to level the stats if not for one assist he made.

During the weekend match, Messi's league-opening goal is also voted as the best executed play. The crowd broke into exhilaration after Messi commandeered Barcelona into a 6-2 victory.

The missing factor: Cristiano Ronaldo

The interesting question that lingers the soccer world right now all points to Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo shares the honor with Messi as the best player of this generation. The rivalry turned cold when Ronaldo sat out few games in the Euro 2016 early this year due to injury.

Ronaldo is currently in Madrid continuing his training. He missed the opener but Real Madrid still managed to finish the weekend with a flair. Ronaldo may be three goals behind in the top scorer chart but he promised that he will be back ASAP. This statement begs the question if Ronaldo can join this Sunday's match against Celta Vigo.

It is Zinedine Zidane that answers with a smile about Ronaldo's condition. He said that he can't give a specific date. Then he capped the answer by saying that Ronaldo is already playing with the ball.
