The 26-year-old midfielder is a vital part of the Welsch team having been able to lead his teammates to victory versus Northern Ireland. UEFA's player ranking revealed that he is the overall number 1 in terms of performance, as well as, goals.

2. Alvaro Morata (Spain, 3 goals)

Spain's lead player shares the same number goals as lead scorer Bale. Coach Vicente del Bosque considers him the best striker in the team, who still continuously improve with every game he plays. "He has had to find the consistency that the great players have," added Del Bosque.

3. Antoine Greizmann (France, 3 goals)

The 25-year-old player climbed to the top scorer rankings after he made two goals in two minutes during their match with Ireland on Sunday. UEFA tagged him as the Man of the Match, keeping France chances in the tournament alive.

4. Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal, 2 goals)

Alongside with Bale, Ronaldo is considered a frontrunner in this year's UEFA tournament. ESPN FC claimed that both players could also be vying for the Ballon d'Or award with their great performance in the competition.

It was also noted that Ronaldo reigns in terms of statistics versus his Real Madrid buddy in the other tournaments he played. Ronaldo made 51 goals last season while Bale only scored 19.

5. Dimitri Payet (France, 2 goals)

A few days ago, Payet had more goals in the tournament than soccer superstar Ronaldo. He was mostly impressive with the team's 2-1 win against Romania.

In an earlier UEFA article, Payet mentioned that he still has a lot of things to improve on as a football player. He added that he should not be the player considered to be best in the team since he has equally talented teammates like Griezmann and Paul Pogba.

"We need those two players. They can guide us through and deep into the competition," Payet added, noting that they all have specific roles to play in the team.
