The death toll from Sunday's deadly tornado in Joplin, Mo. has risen to 116. Authorities were still finding survivors in the wreckage Monday afternoon.
Rep. Billy Long (R-Mo.) described the scene this way: "The pictures on TV don't do it justice. It looks like a nuclear bomb has hit," as reported by USA Today.
According to Joplin officials, more than 2,000 structures along with whole neighborhoods were destroyed. The tornado was reported to be the worst ever to hit Missouri.
The Salvation Army is on the scene with four mobile feeding kitchens, each capable of serving several thousand meals. The Christian organization is supporting affected residents and first responders not only with food but also with assistance in locating loved ones who are still missing.
