'Transformers 5' Cast Rumors, Plot News: New Director, Same Old Style?

Recent news on the development of the next installment of the hit science fiction film "Transformers" indicated that the movie might have already found its new helmer.

According to Enstarz.com, the project for the "Age of Extinction" sequel will be spearheaded by Jonathan Liebesman of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and this could both mean a "good thing and a bad thing" for the franchise.

As previously pointed out, director Michael Bay announced that he will be passing on the helmer's seat to someone else. That someone could none other than Liebesman whose TMNT movie was produced under Bay's Platinum Dunes.

For those with the keen eyes, they might find the rebooted movie "stylistically" tailored as to that of Transformers. The media outlet then went on to say that Liebesman could have been heavily influenced with Bay's aesthetics while working under him.

"Choosing Liebesman to direct the fifth installment, the producers of the sequel of Age of Extinction might be ensuring that the film sticks to the imprint of the first movie and the franchise in general by getting a director whose work might bear some resemblance to that of Bay's," the site said.

Needless to say, both "Transformers: Age of Extinction" and TMNT gained a rather negative feedback from its fans and critics.

The site implied that if the new Transformers will be handled by the Bay-schooled director then the sequel could be another disappointment.

In related news, familiar faces might return to reprise their roles in the forthcoming title. As confirmed by Screen Rant, Mark Wahlberg will continue to play his part as Cade Yeager, a single father and struggling inventor.

Also rumored to return is Megan Fox who told E! News that she's interested to once again star in the series even for a cameo role.

"If [Bay] ever wanted me to do a cameo like assembling an Autobot motorcycle in a bike shop or something like that, I would totally do it," she said. "Transformers 5" is slated to hit the theaters in summer of 2016.
