'Transformers 5' Release Date, News: Maximals vs. Predacons, Bay Not Directing Film

Alongside other blockbuster flicks like "Beverly Hills Cop," "G.I. Joe," and "Hansel and Gretel," the science action robot-filled film "Transformers" is reported to have yet another sequel for the fifth time, according to reports.

While fans and viewers may expect another high-octane fight scenes from the beloved robots, the story of "Transformers 5" is said to take place when Optimus Prime leaves Earth for good. Having said so, the fifth sequel will now feature the battle between the descendants of the Autobots and Decepticons, the Maximals and the Predacons, respectively.

Meanwhile, there have been reports circulating that long time "Transformers" director Michael Bay may have given up the helmer seat to focus on another project. The rumors gained mixed reactions. Others are quite glad about it while some are still hopeful that the 49-year-old "Pearl Harbor" director will still handle the project.

Among the many who wants Bay to return for the fifth installment is none other than Optimus Prime voice talent Peter Cullen.

"I have a great deal of respect for him. He generates a great deal of excitement and energy. He's really a hands-on director. My son is a stunt man and worked in Chicago doing a lot of the driving sequences … he said he's a very, very diligent, hands-on guy," 73-year-old veteran actor from Canada told Cinema Blend.

"He creates a great deal of energy and puts everybody on their toes. I would certainly miss him. I think he's brilliant, his mind is unbelievable. Michael if you're [reading] this, I certainly hope you are coming back," he added.

"Transformers: Age of Extinction" star Mark Whalberg might not also return for the fifth installment, but that still remains inconclusive.

"Transformers 5" is slated to hit the theaters June 24, 2016.
